Carnival Row: Season 2 in Pre-Production

IMG_20190731_004238_624

Judging by the latest posts by Carnival Row‘s writer/producer Travis Beacham and writer Marc Guggenheim pre-production for Amazon Prime show’s second season is well under way. It also looks like after experiencing “The Beast from the East” in the Czech Republic while filming season one, production is now headed for warmer locations.

The pictures shared by Travis Beacham and Marc Guggenheim show the Croatian city of Dubrovnik. Fantasy fans might recognize the town on the Adriatic sea as the set of King’s Landing in HBO hit series Game of Thrones, the show that has been suggested Carnival Row is replacing.

Carnival Row season 1 will be released exclusively on Amazon Prime on Friday 30 August 2019. We have no information yet whether Andrew Gower will reprise his role as Ezra Spurnrose for another season.

Miss Scarlet and the Duke: Meet Rupert Parker

Andrew Gower surprised us today with these two images showcasing his new character Rupert Parker in the upcoming period crime drama Miss Scarlet and the Duke.

Previously director Declan O’Dwyer had only revealed a partial shot of Andrew on his Instagram account. Production for the 6-part mini series is currently underway in Dublin (Ireland).

We are very intrigued and can’t wait to find out who Rupert Parker is! We will keep you posted as soon as and when we find out more.

Creator & Cast Address Carnival Row Production Challenges

During the TCA summer press tour, Carnival Row‘s executive producers Travis Beacham and Marc Guggenheim together with the show’s stars Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne defended the reshoots they went through earlier this year.

Orlando Bloom, who’s also an Executive Producer on the show, told Deadline:

“It’s hugely ambitious and it was only when we were on the ground and physicalizing so many different aspects of the character development that you could see there were some gaps that we needed to fill in and we’re very blessed that Amazon believes in the show and were right behind it. The confidence to do those reshoots was the greatest gift to us. I’m so grateful that we got to go back and do another take of some of the first work we did.”

Creator Travis Beacham, on whose film script the series is based, added:

“The advantage of when you have a true series order like this is that you shoot all eight episodes, then you can go back and look at the whole and watch as well as we can watch. Are we setting up the things that pay off as well as we can set them up? It’s a function of the size of it and the scope of what we’ve been allowed to do.”

“There’s stigma when it comes to reshoots but increasingly in this world of peak TV where shows are getting bigger and bigger, it becomes necessary.”

Carnival Row Season 2 Confirmed

carnivalrows2.jpg

Great news as it is now official: Carnival Row has been picked up for a second season by Amazon and it’s already in development!

The signs have been there for a while from head writer Travis Beacham mentioning talks about another season back in February 2019 to the addition of writer Marc Bernadin to the writing team in March 2019 after principal photography for season 1 had ended.

Variety and Deadline reporting the news now confirms all previous speculation. Big congratulations to the entire cast and crew on this amazing accomplishment (34 days before the release of the show’s first season)!

Unfortunately there is no information yet whether Andrew Gower will reprise his role as Ezra Spurnrose.

The second – and sadly Andrew’s final – episode of Poldark‘s 5th season aired tonight in the UK – time to say good-bye to James Hadfield, yet again an “insanely” good performance by Andrew Gower.

What did you think of the episode? Let us know on Facebook or Twitter!

As always we have a full set of screencaps of Andrew’s scenes from the episode in our Gallery here!

Poldark 5×02

After Ned Despard’s (Vincent Regan) release from prison, Ross (Aidan Turner) must now help him restore his good name and have him reinstated as Superintendent of British Honduras. Demelza (Eleanor Tomlinson) and the children have come to London and together with Ned’s wife Kitty (Kerri McLean) they try to support their husbands.

Back in Cornwall, Prudie (Beatie Edney) has her hands full with ambitious new farm hand Tess (Sofia Oxenham), Morwenna (Ellise Chappell) and Drake Carne (Harry Richardson) make slow progress finding some intimacy in their married life while young Valentine (Woody Norman) feels neglected after his mother’s death and the arrival of new baby Ursula.

Dr Enys (Luke Norris) gives his talk about insanity at the Royal College of Surgeons and his words are met with doubt and disapproval. Only one man in the audience shows genuine interest, who introduces himself as Thomas Erskine (Peter Forbes), James Hadfield’s (Andrew Gower) lawyer. He convinces Dr Enys to testify on Hadfield’s behalf at court to save him from being executed for treason.

Meanwhile, George Warleggan’s (Jack Farthing) mental health issues become more and more apparent, and his uncle Cary Warleggan (Pip Torrens) decides to take measure into his own hands…

Carnival Row: Philo’s and Vignette’s Story

cr_philo086.png

For everyone not being able to attend San Diego Comic Con this weekend, Amazon Prime have released two brand new trailers for their upcoming fantasy series Carnival Row, giving us a more detailed look into this new world and its two main characters, Vignette Stonemoss (Cara Delevingne) and Rycroft Philostrate (Orlando Bloom).

The eight-part series, from René Echevarria, Travis Beacham and Legendary Television, is set in a Victorian fantasy world filled with mythological immigrant creatures whose exotic homelands were invaded by the empires of man. The growing population struggles to coexist with humans — forbidden to live, love, or fly with freedom. But even in darkness, hope lives, as a human detective, Rycroft Philostrate (Bloom), and a refugee faerie named Vignette Stonemoss (Delevingne) rekindle a dangerous affair despite an increasingly intolerant society. Vignette harbors a secret that endangers Philo’s world during his most important case yet: a string of gruesome murders threatening the uneasy peace of the Row. […]

David Gyasi, Karla Crome, Indira Varma, Tamzin Merchant and Simon McBurney also star, and Andrew Gower and Jamie Harris recur.

Carnival Row will launch in a world wide release on 30 August 2019 on Amazon Prime.
