Poldark 5×02

After Ned Despard’s (Vincent Regan) release from prison, Ross (Aidan Turner) must now help him restore his good name and have him reinstated as Superintendent of British Honduras. Demelza (Eleanor Tomlinson) and the children have come to London and together with Ned’s wife Kitty (Kerri McLean) they try to support their husbands.

Back in Cornwall, Prudie (Beatie Edney) has her hands full with ambitious new farm hand Tess (Sofia Oxenham), Morwenna (Ellise Chappell) and Drake Carne (Harry Richardson) make slow progress finding some intimacy in their married life while young Valentine (Woody Norman) feels neglected after his mother’s death and the arrival of new baby Ursula.

Dr Enys (Luke Norris) gives his talk about insanity at the Royal College of Surgeons and his words are met with doubt and disapproval. Only one man in the audience shows genuine interest, who introduces himself as Thomas Erskine (Peter Forbes), James Hadfield’s (Andrew Gower) lawyer. He convinces Dr Enys to testify on Hadfield’s behalf at court to save him from being executed for treason.

Meanwhile, George Warleggan’s (Jack Farthing) mental health issues become more and more apparent, and his uncle Cary Warleggan (Pip Torrens) decides to take measure into his own hands…

Carnival Row: Philo’s and Vignette’s Story

cr_philo086.png

For everyone not being able to attend San Diego Comic Con this weekend, Amazon Prime have released two brand new trailers for their upcoming fantasy series Carnival Row, giving us a more detailed look into this new world and its two main characters, Vignette Stonemoss (Cara Delevingne) and Rycroft Philostrate (Orlando Bloom).

The eight-part series, from René Echevarria, Travis Beacham and Legendary Television, is set in a Victorian fantasy world filled with mythological immigrant creatures whose exotic homelands were invaded by the empires of man. The growing population struggles to coexist with humans — forbidden to live, love, or fly with freedom. But even in darkness, hope lives, as a human detective, Rycroft Philostrate (Bloom), and a refugee faerie named Vignette Stonemoss (Delevingne) rekindle a dangerous affair despite an increasingly intolerant society. Vignette harbors a secret that endangers Philo’s world during his most important case yet: a string of gruesome murders threatening the uneasy peace of the Row. […]

David Gyasi, Karla Crome, Indira Varma, Tamzin Merchant and Simon McBurney also star, and Andrew Gower and Jamie Harris recur.

Carnival Row will launch in a world wide release on 30 August 2019 on Amazon Prime.

Poldark 5×01 (Recap)

poldark501_045

Poldark 5×01

The fifth and final season of the popular British perdiod drama is set just after the turn of the century in 1800. The characters are still reeling from the tragic events of the previous season finale, when Ross (Aidan Turner) receives a letter from an old friend who is wrongfully imprisoned and needs his help.

Ross promptly leaves for London, leaving his wife Demelza (Eleanor Tomlinson) “to run the farm, the mine and the family” back in Cornwall, where there is unrest caused by some unemployed commoners. Demelza tries to appease them by employing the cocky Tess (Sofia Oxenham) as a farm hand. This, however, does nothing to help the situation…

While attempting to help his friend Ned Despard (Vincent Regan) in London, Ross also encounters a man named James Hadfield (Andrew Gower) on several occassions, who preaches the Second Coming of Christ and who is willing to go to some extreme lengths to bring it about. Meanwhile Ross’ efforts don’t go unnoticed either…

If this is true, series 5 could premier in Australia on
