Channel 4 Autumn/Winter Drama Showreel

01-Misfits

Channel 4 have added their Autumn/Winter showreel to their press site, including the first sightings of Misfits season 4. No sign of Andrew Gower as Jake yet but it gives a good insight into the plots of the new season – including a creepy looking white rabbit and a shot of the new Misfits, including Nathan McMullen as Finn and Karla Crome as Jess. Matthew McNulty (Seth) is also present as a new series regular.

Monroe season 2 starts tonight

If you’ve missed the sharp wit and warped humour of maverick neurosurgeon Gabriel Monroe then your wait is over as we return to St Matthews for another nail-biting series.

Monroe season 2 starts tonight (Monday 1 October) on ITV at 9pm. There have been lots of previews in the press today and everything we’ve seen has been hugely positive.

The Telegraph says that Monroe “returns with renewed vigour and trolley-loads of whip-sharp dialogue” while the Metro calls it “a slick and enjoyable drama”. GQ pushes aside the “House comparisons”, saying that “when it started last year, [it] drew understandable comparisons to the recently-departed House… Thankfully, Monroe has developed into a compelling drama – primarily thanks to James Nesbitt’s confidence in the lead role.”

Journalist Ian Wylie has today posted a transcript of the recent press launch for Monroe on his website, you can read it here.

James Nesbitt, Tracy Ann Oberman, Sarah Parish and Neil Pearson appeared on Daybreak this morning to talk about the new series, you can watch it again on ITV Player; it’s around 1 hour 37 minutes in. Sarah Parish also appeared on This Morning around 11.45am, which you can watch again here.

Showreel 2012

Andrew Gower‘s showreel has been added to his Spotlight CV; it includes some great clips from Frankenstein’s Wedding, Monroe and Being Human. You can watch it below:

Keep an eye on his Vimeo page as well as there are also the “Wires” and “Make This Go On Forever” clips from Frankenstein’s Wedding on there – more may be added in the future.

You can view Andrew’s Spotlight CV here.

Huge thanks to Natasha at ITV1 for giving us permission to use these shots of Andrew Gower as Dr Andrew Mullery in season 2 of Monroe. Murdoch Mysteries Season 6 preview

A preview of season six of Murdoch Mysteries has been added to the MIP ITV website, with a short video and an overview of the season.

In series six of the one-hour drama, Detective Murdoch tries to clear the name of a young Winston Churchill after his visit to Canada goes awry; a dangerous madman threatens to unleash a deadly toxic gas attack; and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle makes an appearance when his supposedly fictional creation, Detective Sherlock Holmes, becomes entangled in a violent robbery.

We know from Andrew Gower‘s Spotlight CV and his agent’s website that he has filmed the part of Sherlock Holmes – fingers crossed it won’t be too long before we see some video of the part.

You can see the preview video and read more here.

Monroe season 2 press pack

monroe

ITV have made their press pack available for the new season of Monroe, which is likely to air on Monday 1 October at 9pm.

There is a small quote from Andrew Gower, who plays Dr Mullery, which is reproduced below, and also an episode synopsis for each scene which is absolutely full of spoilers so read it at your peril!

Andrew Gower on playing Mullery
“Mullery on the surface does not strike you as your typical surgeon…far from! But this second series allows you to see how throughout the hospital he’s actually becoming that little bit more ‘sought after’… And has the respect of his peers!
“With his new mentor and new specialty he’s more likely to speak his mind! And with that I think we discover he’s a surgeon who wears his heart on his sleeve!
“Peter Bowker writes beautiful tragic male characters and Mullery definitely falls into that bracket. Which makes him a pleasure to play!”

Dr Mullery’s role at St Matthew’s has changed since we last saw him:

Once Bremner’s cardio trainee, Mullery is now Gillespie’s registrar, specialising in general and vascular surgery. He seems slightly lost in the competitive world of surgery, but his sudden flashes of brilliance suggest that he might one day be an incredible surgeon.

It also has the cast list for each episode and we were pleased to see Karla Crome appearing in two episodes; Andrew will be appearing in the new series of Misfits with Karla Crome (read more), whose roles in Hit and Miss and Murder: Joint Enterprise were some of our standout performances of this year.
